I was never a good diplomat, so here I go ...
With the
immense "disaster / disorder" that are called "international / blends"
... as the first and pressing problem to be addressed (I know, there
will be huge economic interests, lobbies, terrifying pressing, etc.) ...
I just read in a fantastic book by Rod Phillips something about the
so-called "Canadian Wine Initiative" and that led me to Janet Dorozynski
... and here we are ... hearing about "grastro-diplomacy" ...
... So ... what are you doing? !!! In Spanish we have a saying:
"catch the bull by the horns" ...
My humble opinion, as a newcomer in Canada (none of that in the world
of wine, by the way) is that Canada has a HUGE potential, that I find
these "beginnings" exciting and vibrant, and I'd like to add I do not
like too much official regulations and policies ... but CATCH THE BULL BY THE HORNS, PLEASE !!
and that has nothing to do with
"offering Canadian wines at official government receptions" (something
basic, obvious, mandatory) ... but with "common sense" and TALENT ...
and here there is a lot, as well as possibilities, weather, terroir and,
above all, GREAT PEOPLE EXCITED WITH IT ...
The "politics" and
the interests of the "large companies" always hurts, in all parts of the
world, but stop looking at the other way and face the matter ...
I apologize if I am saying nonsense, but they are my first and a bit
vehement conclusions, after reading some chapters on a good book about
the Wines of Canada ...
I like and even excite the wine too much
to shut up ... and I start to like Canada and its wines at the same
level of PASSION ... so you will have to "hold me" or "eliminate me from
your virtual friends" ...because I haven't even started to "warm up
engines" ...
CHEERS!!
This is the link to Janet, which I only heard for a few minutes and I clarify that I do not criticize at all ... I only use it as an excuse for what I try to convey:
